Men's soccer falls to Pomona-Pitzer, 2-1

LOS ANGELES — Pomona-Pitzer edged Occidental College 2-1 on Saturday at W.C. Patterson Field at Jack Kemp Stadium. The Sagehens took an early lead with a goal in the first half and secured the win with another in the second half. The Tigers responded with a goal in the second half but were unable to find the equalizer. The match saw Pomona-Pitzer's defense hold strong, with their goalkeeper making three crucial saves.

The first half began with a defensive stand from Occidental, as goalkeeper Joseph Bassett made a crucial save against Pomona-Pitzer's Guy Fuchs in the 9th minute to maintain the scoreline. Despite a few attempts on goal by Devin Bening and Aiden Aley, the home team was unable to find the back of the net. The half concluded with Occidental trailing after Pomona-Pitzer's Aidan MacLennan scored in the 29th minute, assisted by Mori Miller, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

The second half began with Occidental under pressure as Pomona-Pitzer extended their lead with a goal by MacLennan in the 62nd minute. Occidental responded strategically, and Elijah Edelman capitalized on a penalty kick at the 68th minute to reduce the deficit to 2-1. Despite multiple shot attempts, including efforts by Charlie Miller and Matthew Shea, the Tigers could not find an equalizer, leaving the score 2-1 at the end of regulation.
