LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Occidental (3-6, 1-0 SCIAC) edged out Chapman (6-5, 1-1 SCIAC) in a five-set thriller at Rush Gymnasium on Saturday, capturing the match 25-27, 25-22, 25-19, 21-25, 15-12. The Tigers secured the victory with a strong attacking performance in the third set, hitting .455, and outpaced the Panthers in total kills, 72-53.

The first set began with Occidental establishing an initial lead following a service error by Chapman's Kelsey Magley.
Ariana Carranza was instrumental in early exchanges, contributing kills to keep the scores competitive. Despite some service errors from Occidental,
Sloane Shoop and Shum kept the team in contention with timely kills, including a late surge that brought the score to a 24-24 tie.
