CLAREMONT, Calif. – Men's and women's tennis competed at the ITA Division III Fall West Regionals from October 2-4 in Claremont.

Three Tigers worked back from first-round losses to earn back draw victories, while one doubles squad reached the quarter finals, headlining the weekend in Claremont.

Reigning runners-up and ITA Cup semifinalists, Greta Nagy and Elina Shalaev dropped their first match to a doubles squad from Claremont-M-S. They battled back to win four-straight matches – two wins over pairs from Redlands, one against Chapman and one against Colorado College – to capture the back draw. Their final match was a commanding 8-2 wins over a Redlands doubles team.

Tate Ransom came into the tournament as the fifth-ranked singles player. Another tough first-round loss saw him in the back draw, but he earned four consecutive victories to capture the back draw. Ransom defeated players from Claremont-M-S, Pomona-Pitzer, Redlands and UC Santa Cruz.

In the main doubles draw, Ransom and Alex Ichikawa reached the quarterfinals. They defeated a duo from Pomona-Pitzer, 8-4 before knocking off the No. 2 seed from Azusa Pacific.

Josiah Mones made some noise in Flight C, winning four matches to reach the final. He fell in the final match.

The Tigers are back in action in February to begin the regular season.
