LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Men's basketball is back in the SCIAC tournament for the first time since the 2018-19 season – not counting an appearance during the expanded tournament in 2022. It will be the Tigers first home SCIAC tournament game since the 2017-18 season.

Here is everything you need to know about the powerhouse five-team tournament.

THE FIELD

No. 1 (14) Redlands – 13-3 (2-0 vs CMS)
No. 2 (15) Claremont-M-S – 13-3
No. 3 Chapman – 11-5 (2-2 vs CMS and Redlands)
No. 4 Occidental – 11-5 (1-3 vs CMS and Redlands)
No. 5 Cal Lutheran – 8-8 (Tiebreaker over Whittier, beat Redlands)

THE MATCHUPS

The Tigers and Kingsmen open the tournament in the First Round of the SCIAC Tournament. The winner travels to Redlands on Friday, while down the 210 in Claremont, CMS hosts Chapman the same evening.

The two winners of Friday's games travel to the highest remaining seed for the SCIAC Championship game on Sunday, March 1 with a shot at the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

POSTSEASON OUTLOOK

Redlands and Claremont-M-S look to be firmly within the at-large bid range with both teams in the NCAA Power Index (NPI) top 25. Chapman sits in 63rd, just outside of the top 62, while the Tigers are 83rd.

GAME ONE

The Tigers are 2-0 against the Kingsmen in 2025-26, beating Cal Lutheran by 14 at home in January, then more recently a four-point win on the road in Thousand Oaks on Saturday. The teams meet just four days later for the most important of the three meetings.

The Tigers boast the third, sixth and seventh leading scorers in the SCIAC with Alex McCleery Brown, Nasir Luna and Nicky Clotfelter. The offense will need to be on point to beat some of the nation's best squads this week.

Luna, averaging 17.8 points per game, has averaged 20 points per game against the Kingsmen in two meetings.

Perry Rainey more recently has come into his own. The first year scored a career-high 22 points against the Kingsmen on Saturday in 32 minutes played. He's averaging 7.3 a game but in two starts last week scored 17 at Chapman prior to his career-best performance.
