LOS ANGELES, Calif. –
Ainsley Shelsta and
Paige Yasukochi wrapped up their careers with SCIAC honors on Wednesday, February 25.
Shelsta earned the conference's Ed Baldwin Award. The award is presented to the senior who exhibits the best sportsmanship throughout the conference season. The former first team selection two seasons ago, was sidelined for the majority of her junior and senior seasons. Her impact on the team never wavered despite missing time on the court.
While on the Tigers, Shelsta scored 940 points, averaging 12.7 per game and grabbed 704 rebounds (9.5 per game).
Paige Yasukochi earned her third All-SCIAC honor. It was the first time she received first team honors. After a second team selection as a first year, she closed her Oxy career with consecutive All-SCIAC seasons.
The guard went out in style, receiving two SCIAC Athlete of the Week selections, a D3hoops.com Classic All-Tournament Team nod and eclipsing the 1,000-career point mark.
She scored a career-high 14.1 points per game, while shooting 45% from the field. She nabbed over 5.5 rebounds per game. Yasukochi ends her career with 1,173 points in an even 100 games played.
The Tigers finished the season 12-13 and 7-9 in SCIAC play, just missing out on the SCIAC Tournament.
