REDLANDS, Calif. — Occidental (4-16, 2-4 SCIAC) narrowly fell to Redlands (4-14, 2-4 SCIAC) with a final score of 10-9 on Saturday at Thompson Aquatic Center. Occidental's offense was bolstered by two power-play goals, but Redlands secured the win with a decisive goal in the second overtime period.
Occidental jumped out early with
Lucy Worden scoring, assisted by
Estella Gray. Redlands quickly responded as Marlie Potocki found the net, leveling the score. Occidental's
Talia Thomas and
Sophie Cross added goals before Redlands' Brooklyn Green narrowed the gap to 3-2. Redlands surged ahead in the second quarter with a four-goal streak, highlighted by Lucia Notaro's contributions, to take a 6-4 lead. The game remained tight as Occidental's Worden scored twice in the final periods, but a late goal by Redlands' Teagan May secured a 10-9 victory for Redlands.
