LOS ANGELES — Occidental College women's water polo celebrated the dedication and achievements of their three seniors,
Schuyler Simon-Thomas,
Ruby Vogel, and
Lucy Worden before Saturday morning's game.
Once the game began, Occidental (6-20) dominated Caltech (2-15) with a decisive 16-4 victory on Saturday at the De Mandel Aquatics Center. The Tigers capitalized on three power-play goals and two penalty shots to secure the win.
Occidental started strong with
Schuyler Simon-Thomas scoring, assisted by
Jillian Carlson. The Beavers quickly responded with a goal from Medha Ravi, leveling the score at 1-1.
The Tigers then went on a scoring spree, with
Lucy Worden converting a penalty shot, followed by goals from
Talia Thomas and
Estella Gray, ending the first quarter with a 4-1 lead.
The momentum continued in the second quarter, with Occidental extending its lead to 8-2, including a goal from
Mia Colabianchi. Caltech managed a late goal in the second quarter by Maya Dickson, but the Tigers remained dominant.
Occidental maintained its offensive strength in the final quarters, highlighted by Worden scoring twice in the fourth, securing a decisive 16-4 victory over the Beavers.
Lucy Worden led the offensive charge with four goals on six attempts.
Ruby Vogel contributed with three goals from five shots, while
Schuyler Simon-Thomas added two goals.
Estella Gray made a substantial impact with one goal and three assists, alongside one steal and one block.
The Tigers wrap up the regular season with the 16-4 victory, finishing 6-20 overall and 4-8 in the SCIAC.
