LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Occidental lost to Gordon 1-0 on Sunday at W.C. Patterson Field at Jack Kemp Stadium. Occidental outshot Gordon 15-9 and put six attempts on goal, but Gordon made six saves to keep the Tigers scoreless. The match also included 13 fouls and three yellow cards against Occidental, while Gordon was called for 18 fouls and four yellow cards.
Occidental generated the bulk of the first-half chances but went into halftime down 1-0 after Nick Vavala scored for Gordon at 34:44 off an assist from Andrew Diller. Earlier, Occidental opened with pressure as
Elijah Edelman had a shot blocked,
Ethan Carr missed high and
Andrew Lee forced a save from Riley Calemmo inside the first nine minutes. Edelman continued to drive the attack, putting four shots on frame between 13:12 and 26:21, all saved by Calemmo, while Occidental also earned corner kicks at 6:24 and 17:37. After Gordon's goal,
Carlos Abram made a save on Vavala in the 39th minute, and
Cristian Granados added a late shot as Occidental finished the half with nine shots but trailed by one at the break.
Occidental kept Gordon off the board in the second half and generated a late push while trailing 1-0, but could not convert before the final whistle. Earlier,
Alex Yu put a shot wide left at 46:11 and Edelman missed high at 51:01 as Occidental looked for a response after halftime. Gordon created pressure during a physical stretch midway through the half, but Abram made three saves between 55:41 and 59:25 to keep the margin at 1-0. Occidental continued to press with

Piero Falconi Pujalt taking a shot before back-to-back corner kicks in the 86th and 87th minutes. The half finished scoreless, and Gordon held on for a 1-0 final.
