Athletic Training Room Rules


 
  • The Oxy Athletic Training Room (ATR) is available for the exclusive use of active Oxy varsity student-athletes.
  • Student-athletes accessing the ATR must be medically cleared by the Oxy sports medicine staff.
  • No food or drinks are allowed in the ATR, with the exception of sealed water bottles.
  • Use the outdoor cubby station for backpacks, bags, and athletic equipment.
  • Appropriate behavior for a medical facility is expected. Be aware of your voices; no foul language.
  • At a minimum, shorts and t-shirts should be worn in the ATR.
  • All injuries and illnesses must be reported to the AT staff as soon as possible.
  • Appointments are required for 1:1 sessions with an AT. These include injury evaluations, rehab sessions, and follow-ups/check-ins.
  • No appointments are needed for pre-practice taping or post-practice icing; acute injury evaluations that require immediate attention; and self-guided rehab exercises, stretching, and treatments. Check our ATR Hours shared calendar for our facility hours.
  • All student-athletes must sign in on our Google Forms sign-in on the iPad.
  • Modalities (stim, ultrasound, BFR, Graston, cupping) are operated by the AT staff only. Ask if you need assistance or adjustments.
  • Whirlpools.
    • No appointment is necessary.
    • Shower before using the whirlpools.
    • No open wounds, cuts, or scrapes. Check with the AT staff if you are unsure.
    • Clean garments msy be worn. Dirty practice gear is not allowed; underwear only is not allowed.
    • Full body submersion = 5 minutes.
    • Extremity submersion = 10-15 minutes.
  • Wipe down treatment tables with sanitizing wipes after use.
  • Put equipment away properly after use.
  • Take care of equipment and use them correctly and appropriately.
  • Radio and TV are operated only by the AT staff.
