2012: Pitcher for the Tigers.. Had a dominant relief pitching performance to edge out Redlands, 7-6; retired 9 batters in a row to sweep the weekend series... Earned the win for the Tigers in the final game of the La Verne series, striking out seven in 6.1 innings... Proved himself as a promising starting pitcher with a complete game with three strikeouts and four earned runs, improving to 3-0 on the season... High School: Graduated from Canyon Crest Academy in San Diego in 2010 after playing 3 varsity seasons for the Ravens. Led the Ravens to the school's first Coastal South Baseball League title as a senior captain. Was voted 1st team All-Coastal South League his junior year and 2nd team All-Coastal South League his sophomore and senior years. Senior year, posted a 1.45 ERA in 78 innings with 9 complete games in 11 starts, striking out 71 while only walking 9. As a senior he threw a perfect game on March 24 vs Broomfield (CO), for which he was named the North County Times and San Diego XX 1090 Papa John's Student Athlete of the Week. Was also a scholar athlete all three years.
Personal: Matthew Gerald Malott was born August 20, 1992 in San Diego, CA to Tim and Emelyn Malott. He has two brothers, Dan, 31, and Andrew, 27, and a sister, Sarah, 13. Matt has not yet declared his major.
