2012-13: Scored 20 points, grabbed seven rebounds, had four steals and blocked two shots in season-opening 95-91 win vs. Bethesda University (Nov. 20)...tallied 26 points, eight rebounds, four steals, and two blocks vs. Macalester (Nov. 23)...scored 25 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and blocked two shots vs. Pacifica (Nov. 24)...notched nine points and six rebounds vs. CMS (Nov. 28)...had nine points and eight rebounds vs. Redlands (Dec. 5)...registered 18 points, six rebounds, and two steals vs. Whitworth on Dec 15...
2011-12: Named Second-Team All-SCIAC...Scored his 1,000 career point against Redlands on Feb. 1, 2011...led the Tigers with 15.5 points per game...totaled 372 points, 171 rebounds, 26 assists, 23 blocks, and 19 steals...scored a career high 27 points on two occasions, in an 81-73 victory over American Sports University on Nov. 16 and again in a 67-66 loss to Pacifica a week later... Grabbed 11 rebounds, to tie his career best, against Dallas on Nov. 26 and ASU on Dec. 5... Swatted a season high 3 shots on Dec. 18 vs. Widener... Has dished out 4 assists in three different games this season...
2010-11: A team captain… Scored a career high 22 points on Nov. 26, 2010 against the University of Puget Sound... Recorded a career high 11 rebounds against West Coast Baptist on Dec. 7, 2010... Scored in double figures in 17 out of 24 games played... Averaged 13.5 points per game and 5.6 rebounds... Recorded 22 blocks, 13 steals, and 18 assists on the season... Deshun was named the SCIAC Athlete of the Week for his performance between Dec. 13, 2010 and Jan. 2, 2011 as he averaged 18 points, 4.3 rebounds, and shot 62.5% from the field... Second Team All-SCIAC selection.
2009-10: Deshun was the only freshman to earn conference accolades as a Second Team All-SCIAC selection and was named to the Division III All-Freshman Team… Averaged 13.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game…Finished with 205 total rebounds, pulling down 47 offensive boards, giving the Tigers numerous opportunities for second-chance points… The Los Angeles, Calif. native shot 55% from the field as he started all 26 games during his freshman campaign… Recorded 17 blocks, 31 steals and 38 assists… In SCIAC play, Deshun averaged a team-leading 8.2 rebounds per game, while chipping in with 14.1 points per game…Was team leader in rebounds per game and second in points per game.
High School: A product of Westchester HS, Deshun was a three year varsity letter winner on the Comet’s basketball team, which won the 2009 L.A. City Championship, 2009 Southern California Regional Championship and the 2009 California State Division 1 HS Championship… He was All-League in 2007 and 2009, Reebok Headliner MVP in 2008 and was named the CIF Sportsmanship Player of the Year in 2009.
Involvement at Occidental: Deshun participates in numerous organizations on campus including BSA (Black Student Alliance), CSO (Carribean Student Organization) and the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship.
Personal: Deshun is the son of Joanna Clifton and Anton Blakely and brother to Deshunaye McCoy and Deandre Clifton Simon…has two dogs Kaos and Haroe…He is a Sociology Major with a Minor in Education who aspires to become an Educator of both Physical Education and Academics.
