2011-12: The forward is a team captain for the second time in his career... Named the SCIAC Male Student-Athlete of the Week on Dec. 20, after coming just a pair of rebounds and an assist shy of a triple double in a 90-84 loss to Widener University on Dec. 18... Season high 10 rebounds came in a win vs. American Sports University on Nov. 16, 2011... Scored a career best 19 points against Stevens Institute on Nov. 27...
2010-11: A team captain…Posted a career game on 12/7/10 with 15 rebounds, 11 points and nine assists in a 63-51 win over West Coast Baptist College.
2009-10: Jake played in all 26 games during his sophomore campaign, starting one, logging 18.0 minutes per game, playing a key role for the Tigers…Shot 49 percent from the field while grabbing 108 rebounds with 25 assists, 10 blocks and 16 steals….Jake was named to the SCIAC All-Academic Team 2009-10.
2008-09: In his first collegiate season, Jake started six games and appeared in 18, averaging 14.2 minutes per game…He came off the bench to provide a presence inside, finishing with 43 rebounds, 41 points, 16 assists, nine steals and two blocks.
High School- Jake played three years of basketball for the Milton Academy Mustangs where he earned All-League in 2007 and 2008 as a team captain…On the track team he participated in the 300m hurdles, 100m hurdles, high jump, long jump, and triple jump…He placed 3rd in the Independent School League in the high jump and 6th in the New England tournament….Jake was a national merit scholar finalist.
Involvement at Occidental– In 2010, Jake was voted as a co-chair of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee…He serves as the Student Representative for the Occidental College Sexual Assault Working Group…Student Representative for the Occidental College Dean’s Advisory Committee…Student Representative for the Occidental College Space Committee…Team Leader for Relay for Life Fundraiser.
Personal: Jake is the son of Barbara and David Copithorne and brother to Lexi…He is an Economics Major who was named to the Dean’s List in the Fall of 2008 and Fall of 2009…His Academic Advisor is Robby Moore.
