Cameron McMullen

Cameron McMullen joined the Occidental College Baseball Staff as its Assistant Coach in June 2025.

McMullen returns to the SCIAC – previously serving as an assistant coach at Chapman University – after stints at WashU and Wentworth Institute of Technology. 
 
While at WashU, McMullen was the Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the Bears who went 50-32-1 across two seasons under McMullen. He coached five All-UAA hitters and three All-Region hitters. His 2025 recruiting class – the first full class under his leadership – was ranked 10th in the nation and first in the UAA. McMullen helped the Bears reach their first regional since 2021 in the 2025 season, losing to the eventual National Champion, Wisconsin-Whitewater.
 
Prior to WashU, McMullen returned to the state of his alma mater, UMass, for a head coaching stint at Wentworth Institute of Technology (2022-23), a member of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC). Before Wentworth, McMullen spent five seasons (2017-2022) at Chapman University. At Chapman, McMullen served as the assistant head baseball coach/recruiting coordinator from 2019-2022. Before being named assistant coach, McMullen held several different roles, including offensive coordinator, catching coach and infield coach. During his tenure, 51 players earned All-SCIAC honors. 
 
Chapman claimed a trio of SCIAC titles (2018, 2021, 2022), to claim the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. In 2022, McMullen helped guide Chapman to a NCAA Super Regional appearance in La Grange, Ga.  
 
Before Chapman, McMullen spent a season (2018-2019) as associate head baseball coach/recruiting coordinator at NCAA Division III University of Puget Sound. McMullen got his collegiate coaching start at the University of Nevada, from 2012-2016. McMullen served as director of baseball operations, outfield coach, and bullpen coach.  
 
Off the field, McMullen held the role of an adjunct faculty member, from 2019-2022, at Chapman. He taught in the department of communication studies, department of leadership studies, and department of physical activity.  
 
At the University of Washington, from 2018-2019, McMullen was a research assistant and lecturer. As a research assistant, McMullen researched leadership in athletics within the college of education and specialized in leadership development research for the ambitious coaching project. McMullen lectured for the intercollegiate athletics leadership graduate program within the college of education.  
 
McMullen received his bachelor's degree in history from the University of Massachusetts, master's degree in teaching from the University of Southern California and then earned his Ph.D. in educational leadership from the University of Nevada.
