Reiner Kolodinski '81 returns for his 9thseason as Oxy assistant coach. Reiner brings more than 20 years ofhigh school, college and professional coaching experience to theTiger Basketball program. Reiner is an outstanding coach and has apassion for teaching the game and developing players.
Regarded as one of the finest point guards in Oxy history,Reiner transferred to Occidental after playing two years at ElCamino College. He led the Tigers to the 1980 SCIAC Championshipand a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament, setting schoolrecords in free throw percentage (92.9%) and season assists (154).Reiner was a two-time All-SCIAC point guard and was named to theNCAA Division III All-District team in 1980.
After college Kolodinski went on to play professionally forASC46 Goettingen in the German Bundeslinga, winning the German Cupin 1983.
Currently he is a full-time history teacher Glendale HighSchool. Prior to working at Glendale HS he taught at Duarte HSwhere he was named "Teacher of the Year" in 2003.
Kolodinski earned his teaching credential and master's degreefrom Occidental in 2001.
Married for 25 years, he and his wife Janice live in Eagle Rockand have three children: Jonathan, Natalie and Andrew. Natalieplayed basketball at Occidental and graduated in 2010.
Reiner enjoys traveling, modern jazz, reading, gardening and oldmovies.
