Sierra Slack

Sierra Slack was named the head coach of Occidental women’s lacrosse in 2023. Slack previously served as an assistant coach on the Tigers’ staff.

In two seasons at the helm, Slack has led the Tigers to back-to-back SCIAC tournament appearances. The Tigers sport an 18-16 record under Slack’s tutelage. She’s coached seven All-SCIAC players and one IWLCA All-Region selection.

Widely regarded as the best player in Oxy lacrosse history, Slack leads the Tigers in all-time goals and points (204 and 283). She was a three-time First Team All-SCIAC selection, a two-time IWLCA First Team All-Region honoree and earned SCIAC Newcomer of the Year in 2015. She concluded her career as a student-athlete at Oxy earning the Tigers’ Roy Dennis Award. An award given to the top men’s and women’s sport student-athletes each year.

Slack remained in the Tigers program following graduation. She was part of the 2019 SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year after the Tigers went 7-3 in SCIAC play. The second-best finish in program history, the best came a season prior in Slack’s senior season when the Tigers earned an 8-2 conference record.

Following her short stint as an assistant with the Tigers, Slack returned to her native New Jersey, working as an assistant coach at Fairleigh Dickinson University. After two seasons as an assistant, Slack was elevated to head coach for the 2023 season.

While at FDU, Slack helped the Devils to a combined 41-13 record across three seasons, including three MAC Freedom tournament appearances and one championship. In 2021, Slack and the Devils reached the First Round of the NCAA Tournament after stringing off 16 consecutive wins. As a head coach, Slack earned a 9-9 record and FDU reached the first round of the MAC Freedom tournament.

Aside from coaching, Slack served on the IWLCA Regional All-American Committee. Slack graduated from Oxy in 2018 with a degree in Economics.
