LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 13,
2007) – The woes continued for the Tigers women's
soccer team today as they dropped a 3-1 game against Pomona-Pitzer
in SCIAC play on D.W. Patterson Field.
Occidental took 10 shots to the
Sagehens' eight, but were scoreless until the 82nd
minute when Carly Wachi put the Tigers on the
board as a replacement on the field.
The Sagehens took the lead in the
36th minute when Erin Platter found the back of the net
giving PP a 1-0 halftime lead. Pomona added goals in the
53rd and 64th minutes to pad their lead and
secure the win. Sagehens keeper Caroline Flynn made six saves in
front of the goal.
Melissa Warner blocked three
shots and Robin Feldman saw just over 10 minutes
of action in the game for the Tigers.
Occidental drops to 7-4; 6-2 in SCIAC play,
but remain second place in the conference standings. Pomona-Pitzer
improves to fifth in the SCIAC with a 3-4-2 mark and hold a season
record of 6-5-2.
Oxy will be back on the field Wednesday, Oct.
17 when they host the University of Redlands Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m.
on the Lower Soccer Field.
