LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 29, 2007) – A
much improved 2007 soccer squad clinched a second place finish in
the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in with
a 2-0 win over Cal Lutheran today on the Lower Soccer Field.
In the 35th minute of the game
Tigers senior Adrienne Spivak scored to put Oxy on
the board. The score remained 1-0 until the final minute of play
when Elise Devereaux also found the back of the
net.
There was no better way for the three Tiger
seniors to go out than with a win. Spivak, goalie Melissa
Warner and Jennifer Lopez each played her
final regular season home game in Occidental black and orange
today.
With win Occidental improves to 10-6, 9-3 in
SCIAC. The Tigers solidified a spot in the Post Season SCIAC
Tournament on Saturday with their 10-0 win over Whittier.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps wrapped up another
SCIAC Title and will host the first day of the four-team
tournament. CMS and Cal Lutheran will face off at 5:00 on Pritzlaff
Field before Occidental and the University of Redlands meet up at
7:30 p.m.
The highest seeded team remaining following
the first day of games will host the Championship game on Saturday,
Nov. 3 at noon.
