CLAREMONT, Calif. (Sept. 19, 2007)–
Occidental women's soccer continued their winning ways on
Wednesday as they defeated the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens 2-0 in
Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
For the second straight game freshman
Jesi Sasaki led the Tigers offense. Sasaki again
got the scoring started as she netted a goal in the 19th
minute, putting Oxy on the board. A minute and a half later
Carly Wachi scored on a cross from senior
Adrienne Spivak in the 21st minute of
play.
Goalkeeper Melissa Warner was
credited with the shutout for her performance in front of the cage.
The Tigers got nine shots off while the
Sagehens took just six. Oxy also doubled the Pomona-Pitzer corner
kicks with four.
Occidental improves to 3-1overall and remains
undefeated at 2-0 in SCIAC play. Pomona-Pitzer falls to 2-3-1 and
are 0-2-1 in SCIAC play.
The Tigers will host Redlands (3-0-2, 2-0
SCIAC) on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 11:00 a.m. on D.W. Patterson Field
on the campus of Occidental College.
