LOS
ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 22, 2008) –
Maddy Raschtimed her first collegiate goal perfectly as
she sank the winning goal in the Tigers' ever so slim 1-0
victory over Pomona-Pitzer today.
The
Lower Soccer Field saw the only offense of the day in the eighth
minute of action when Rasch was alert to the ricochet of a
shot Jesi Saski
hit
off the cross bar, finding the back of the net.
Midway though the second half Oxy had
seemingly scored again when Corinne
Winkler sent the ball past PP goalie Caroline Flynn,
but moments later the goal was erased by the
referees.
A
defensive battle ensued for the remainder of the
game.
The
Tigers were able to fire off 12 total shots, seven on goal with
Flynn stopping six of those. Pomona-Pitzer took the advantage with
14 shots taken, also taking seven shots on goal, with Oxy
goalie Robin Feldman
recording seven
saves.
While the Sagehens held the shot advantage,
the Tigers were awarded six corner kick opportunities to
Pomona-Pitzer's four.
Occidental improves to .500 overall at 6-6
and are now 5-4 in SCIAC play. Pomona-Pitzer falls to 6-8-1,
4-5-1.
Saturday, Oct. 25 the Tigers will travel to
Redlands to face the Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m.
