CLAREMONT, Calif. (Oct. 29, 2008) –
Unable to score for the second consecutive game, the Occidental
College Tigers were shut-out by the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas
1-0 in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play
crushing the Tigers' hopes of advancing to the SCIAC Post
Season Tournament.
The lone goal of the game came in the
62nd minute when Giselle Galanto scored on an assist
from Brittany Watson.
CMS took 22 shots while Oxy fired off just 13,
but earned just one more corner kick opportunity (five) than the
Tigers (four). Corinne Winkler and Nicole
Findlay each took three shots while Marci
Kang added a pair of attempts.
Both goalies played 90 minutes with
Robin Feldman blocking 10 shots and CMS keeper
Camila Friedman-Gerlicz making seven saves.
Occidental falls to 6-8, 5-6 in SCIAC play.
The Tigers will conclude their season on Saturday, Nov. 1 when they
host the Cal Lutheran University Regals at 11:00 a.m. on Patterson
Field.
