CLAREMONT, Calif. (Sept. 27, 2008) –
Occidental College was shut out 2-0 today on
the road as the women's soccer team traveled to Pomona-Pitzer
in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action.
The
Tigers managed to fire off just five shots and allowed a pair of
Sagehens to score, giving Oxy their second loss in as many
games.
Pomona-Pitzer scored their first goal in the
28th minute and added a second score in the
68th minute off the feet of Traci Lopez and Jenni
Hebein, respectively.
Freshman goalkeeper Charla
Holdren made
two saves on the eight Sagehen shots while her counterpart Caroline
Flynn also recorded a pair of saves.
Corinne Winkler and Carly Wachi
fired off a couple shots
apiece, but came up empty as did Jesi
Sasaki.
Each team took just one corner kick and PP
was called for three fouls with the Tigers having two
fouls.
Oxy
will be back on the field next Wednesday when they host the
University of Redlands Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m.
