LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 21, 2009) – In back-to-back
games the women's soccer team has earned 2-0 victories,
shutting out their opposition. Today, at Pomona-Pitzer, Occidental
used goals in both the first and second halves to earn a Southern
California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win.
Occidental duplicated its earlier season meeting, defeating the
Sagehens 2-0 for the second time in 2009. The black and orange got
on the board in the 33rd minute when Maddy
Rasch headered the ball into the net on a cross from
Lei Song for the ultimate winning goal. Oxy added
an insurance goal in the second half at the 86th minute
on an unassisted shot from outside the 18 off the foot of
Corinne Winkler.
Robin Feldman posted her second straight
shutout, and sixth of the season, as she recorded five saves for
the Tigers as the Sagehens fired off nine shots in all.
Pomona-Pitzer's goalie, Gabrielle Baum made six shots as
Oxy took a total of 13 with eight on goal. Song led the attack with
three attempts and three players had two chances. Oxy earned four
corner kicks while PP had just one.
