Box Score LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Sept. 19, 2009) – The Occidental
College men's soccer team traveled to the University of
Redlands to face the Bulldogs, but were unable to return home with
a victory as they fell 3-1 in their second
Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match of
the season.
After back-to-back shutouts, Redlands scored a trio of goals
against the black and orange.
The Bulldogs scored their first two goals in the first half, one
from a shot outside of the penalty area and the other a near save
by goalkeeper Ian Powell who finished with eight
saves.
The offense came from the foot of junior Rob
Tuttlebee. Just before halftime, in the 44th
minute, Tuttlebee found the back of the net on a penalty kick in
the only Tigers' shot on goal in the game.
The third Bulldog goal came from another near save by Powell at
the 65th minute of the game.
The Tigers record fell to 2-3 overall as they now sit at 1-1 in
SCIAC play. After travelling east to Redlands today, the squad will
head north on Wednesday, Sept. 23 to face off with the Cal Lutheran
University Kingsmen (2-4, 1-1 SCIAC). Kick-off is slated for 4:00
p.m..
