Box Score LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 2, 2010) – Ninety minutes was
not enough for the Tigers and Bulldogs to determine a winner in
Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on the
Lower Soccer Field at Occidental College this afternoon. Instead,
the teams battled through a pair of overtime periods and settled
for a 1-1 tie.
Oxy got on the board first with a Ben Murray to
Ben
Grime pass and goal, respectively. The Tigers held
onto that 1-0 lead into the break.
Redlands then looked to Alex Laughton in the
60th minute, which tied the game.
One overtime led to the next and when all was said and done the
Tigers had fired off nine shots, eight on goal, led by Grimes and
Oliver
Field who finished with two apiece.
The Bulldogs more than doubled the amount of attacking with 19
total shots, but only five were on goal for the Maroon and Gray.
Midfielder Gabe Ramirez was responsible for three, with one at the
cage, which accounted for one of the four saves that Oxy goalie
Chris
Liotta recorded on the afternoon.
Occidental now holds onto a 3-4-1 overall record and sit at
3-1-1 in SCIAC play. The Tigers hit the road on Wednesday, Oct. 6
when they travel to Thousand Oaks, Calif. to play the California
Lutheran University Kingsmen at 4:00 p.m.
