REDLANDS, Calif. (Oct. 2, 2010) – The last six times the
Occidental College women's soccer team has taken the field
they have walked away unbeaten. Today, it took the Tigers a mere 23
seconds to put away the winning goal and stretch that streak to
half a dozen.
After four consecutive victories, three in Southern California
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, Occidental earned a tie
with Whittier on Wednesday. Today, the Black and Orange returned to
the win column with a 1-0 defeat of the University of Redlands on
the road.
Junior Liz Martin took the Bulldogs by storm
when she stepped in front of a Redlands pass and struck a quick
one-timer into the net, marking the only scoring of the
afternoon.
Tigers' goalie, Robin Feldman, played all
90 minutes, blocking five Bulldogs' shots and earning her
third shutout of the 2010 season. Redlands out shot Oxy 17-12, and
earned six corner kicks to the Tigers' one.
Manning the back field today were Martin, Bree Geary,
Season Falkler-Rodriguez and Andrea Loh.
Occidental (6-1-1, 4-0-1 SCIAC) returns home on Wednesday, Oct.
6 when they will host the unbeaten California Lutheran University
Regals (8-0-1, 3-0-1 SCIAC) in the first of four consecutive home
contests. Teams will kick off at 4:00 p.m. on the Lower Soccer
Field.
