Box Score

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 9, 2010) – The Occidental College Tigers came back from a 1-0 deficit to claim a 2-1 victory over the Caltech Beavers today, on Patterson field in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.

The Beavers found the back of the net first, with Brice Nzeokou scoring the first goal of the game just over 17 minutes into the first half.

Despite being down 1-0 at the intermission, the Tigers' Rob Riccardi, scored quickly off of a corner kick in the second half to tie the score at 1-1. Ben Murray then followed with the go-ahead goal, during minute 64, which was assisted by Riccardi.

After a virtually even opening stanza in which each team fired off six shots, Oxy peppered the CIT goal with 17 second half shots finishing with 11 on target. Caltech goalie Marcus Lucas turned away nine shots. Murray led the attack with seven shots, four on goal, with Riccardi trying four times with both Ian Silverness and Nitzan Sherman earning a trio of chances apiece.

The Tigers defense showed their presence, holding the Beavers to nine shots, five of which were on goal, with Oxy keeper Ian Powell making four saves.

Saturday's victory pushes the Black and Orange unbeaten streak to five with a trio of wins and a pair of ties. Oxy now holds a 4-4-2 overall record with a  4-1-2 SCIAC mark this fall.

The Tigers will meet UC Santa Cruz on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 12:00pm.
