Tigers fall on the road

CLAREMONT, Calif. (April 10, 2010) – Oxy traveled to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps to go head to head with the conference leading Athenas.  Although the Tigers have made great strides this year, the gap between these two programs was obvious this afternoon, as the Black and Orange fell by the final score of 23-3.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps opened the game with a score less than 30 seconds into the game, but the Tigers responded two minutes later with a goal from Isabel Osgood-Roach, tying the game at one apiece.

The host squad then rattled off ten straight scores, jumping out to a commanding 11-1 lead that the young Tigers could not overcome.

Shannon Docherty ended the run with a free position score with 3:34 left in the first half.

But the Tigers then watched as the Athenas ran off eight more goals, a run that spanned both halves, before Docherty scored her second goal late in the final half.

That score was the last for Oxy, as they were sent home on the wrong end of 23-3 scoreboard.

The Tigers (1-10, 0-5) head to Whittier College on Wednesday, April 14th for their final road game with the opening draw scheduled for 7 pm.
