Athenas cruise past Tigers

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 21, 2010) – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference leading Athenas picked up another win tonight, this time at the expense of the young Tigers.  Claremont-Mudd-Scripps built a huge lead and didn't look back, winning by the final score of 20-6.

The Athenas jumped out to a big 8-1 lead, the lone Tiger goal coming from Shannon Docherty at the 25:01 mark.

The Black and Orange then strung together a rally, with back to back goals from Sarah Kessler and Lauren Wemple, with just over eight minutes left to play in the first half.

Although the Tigers took only nine shots in the first 30 minutes, they made the most of their opportunities, as they fired in two more goals before halftime.   Wemple and Docherty found the back of the net to cut the lead in half, as the Tigers went into the half down 5-10.

The second half was all Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, as they rolled to a 10-1 half, walking away from Patterson Field with a 20-6 victory.

The Tigers (1-12, 0-7) host their final game of the season this Saturday as the Pomona Pitzer Sagehens visit Patterson Field.  Opening draw is scheduled for 1pm.
