LA VERNE, Calif. (Sept. 18, 2010) –Today at the University
of La Verne the Occidental College women's soccer team looked
to freshman Jenny Clark to lead the pack as the
Tigers earned their second consecutive win, opening Southern
California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a victory
returning to Eagle Rock having won 1-0.
After firing off 24 shots, the Tigers came away on top when
Liz Martin found Clark who headed the ball off a
cross in the 60th minute.
While Occidental controlled the ball for most of the game,
nearly quadrupling the amount of shots they took, the defense
limited the Leos to seven chances with only two coming on goal. Oxy
goal keeper Robin Feldman turned both of those
away to keep ULV off the board, for her first shutout of the
season.
The Black and Orange earned four corner kicks, two in each half,
while ULV had three chances.
Martin and Kellee Murayama each took four shots
while Whitney Roline and Alex Nicholson took three apiece.
Occidental improves to 3-1 overall while ULV remains winless at
0-4, 0-1 SCIAC. The Tigers next travel to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
where they will face off with the Athenas on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at
4:00 p.m. to cap off a four-game road stint.
