Box Score LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Sept. 25, 2010) – Playing at
Occidental College for the first time in nearly three weeks, the
Tigers drew a large crowd to Patterson Field where the Black and
Orange looked offensively to sophomore Alex Nicholson and defensively to senior goalkeeper
Robin Feldman as Oxy posted a 2-0 victory in
Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action
pushing their win streak to four games.
At the 29:40 mark Nicholson took a shot from 30 yards out that
curled its way into the back of the net, clearing the cross bar by
just over a foot. A minute and 12 seconds later she punched in
another goal giving the Tigers a quick 2-0 lead.
The defense stepped up as well, with Feldman leading the pack
making a diving stop at the corner of the goal with 10 minutes to
play in the opening stanza. Again she kept the shutout intact with
an air bound grab in the 40th minute of action. Her
fifth save of the half came with 2:03 remaining before the break
and she came out of the cage to keep the Sagehens scoreless.
After the intermission, Occidental (5-1, 3-0 SCIAC) and
Pomona-Pitzer remained scoreless although the Sagehens threatened
with under a minute to play. A foul allowed PP to set up their shot
and while it was a valiant effort by the Hens, Feldman once again
came up huge, making her seventh and final block of the
evening.
Pomona-Pitzer out shot Occidental 9-8 in the contest.
On Wednesday, Sept. 29 the Black and Orange hit the road again
when they travel to Whittier College to face off with the Poets who
are currently 3-3-1, 1-2 in SCIAC play. Teams will kick off at 7:00
p.m. at Memorial Stadium. If you can't make it out, watch the
