Box Score WHITTIER, Calif. (Sept. 29, 2010) – The Occidental College
Tigers scored a pair of first half goals, but a late push by the
Poets left the teams tied 2-2 after double overtime in Southern
California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action tonight at
Whittier College under the lights.
Freshman Elissa Minamishin scored her third
career goal on an assist from Whitney Roline in
the 12th minute to put the Tigers on the board.
Classmate Kellee Murayama then got a clean pass
from Liz Martin to double the lead for Oxy.
After the intermission, WC was able to push a pair of goals into
the back of the net, scoring in the 62nd and
82nd minutes, respectively, despite taking just seven in
the entire contest. Oxy fired off 25 shots with 14 aimed at the
goal. Minamishin, Murayama and Roline each finished with four shots
while Bree Geary and Alex Nicholson were responsible for three shots apiece.
The Tigers locked down one more corner kick, five, than the
Poets.
Occidental will be back on the road Saturday morning, Oct. 2,
when they travel to the University of Redlands for a showdown with
the Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m.
