LOS ANGELES — Tori Larson (Denver) scored a game-high five goals and the Occidental College women's lacrosse team cruised to a 15-8 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the semi finals of the SCIAC Women's Lacrosse tournament at Jack Kemp Stadium on Saturday.

With the win, Oxy, the host of the four-team portion of the postseason tournament, advances to face Redlands in the championship game on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Bulldogs clinched at least a share of the conference championship by beating Pomona-Pitzer 10-7 at Oxy in Game 1 of the tournament, but a Tigers win would put both teams at 14 points in the SCIAC standings, making the squads co-champions.

CMS, the defending champs, finish the season 6-10 overall and 4-5 in SCIAC play.

After Ali Abramovitz (Denver) scored the first goal of the game for the Athenas, Larson and Rebecca Belding (Burlingame) each scored consecutive goals, putting Oxy up 4-1 just more than 12 minutes into the game. CMS trimmed the lead to two twice in the next 5 minutes, on goals by Madi Shove (Portola Valley) and Hilary Slauson (Lake Oswego, Ore.), but Sarah Kessler (Portland, Ore.), Isabel Osgood-Roach (Portland, Ore.), Lauren Wemple (Needham, Mass.) and Beebe Finch-Sanders responded with scores during a 4-1 run to end the half, and CMS was never closer than five goals in the second.

CMS dominated the draw, winning 18-7, but Oxy picked up five more ground balls (31-26), and had four less turnovers (21-25).

Haley Gandsey (Oakland) led Oxy with five ground balls and three draw controls.
