WHITTIERTaryn Ng (Milpitas) headed in a late goal, but the Occidental College women's soccer team had a 5-minute span where it gave up two goals in the second half of a 3-1 loss at Whittier College on Wednesday.

Ng made a back-post run and scored the Tigers only goal off a cross from Elissa Minamishin (Waihpahu, Hawaii), near the right corner flag, in the 81st minute.

The damage had already been done though.

Whittier extended a 3-0 lead on goals by Rose Marie Orlando in the 70th minute and Rachel Inouye in the 74th, putting the match out of reach.

Allison Calabrese scored the first goal for the Poets (3-4, 1-2 SCIAC) in the 32nd minute.

Ng fired three shots on goal and the Tigers (1-4, 0-3 SCIAC) as a team had four more chances than Whittier, 14 shots to the Poets' 10. Minamishin and Whitney Roline (Eugene, Ore.) also had three shots.

The Tigers return home to play Cal Lutheran at Jack Kemp Stadium on Saturday at 7 p.m.
