Box Score LA VERNE — The ball just hasn't bounced in the direction of the Occidental College women's soccer team this season.
Despite a first-half goal from Kylie Takafuji in the 13th minute, the Tigers lost 2-1 at La Verne when Natalie Vasquez scored the game-winner less than 2 minutes into extra time, handing the Tigers their fourth overtime loss of the season. It is the seventh time Oxy has gone to OT in 14 games.
Marisella Macias scored the equalizer in the 36th minute.
Oxy had more than twice the opportunities the Leopards had, getting off 19 shots to La Verne's nine. Elissa Minamishin had six and Julie Khil had five.
The Tigers fall to 3-9-2 and 2-8-1 in SCIAC play. La Verne improves to 7-9-1 and 4-6-1.
Oxy returns to action on Saturday, hosting Chapman at 1 p.m. on the Lower Field.
