CLAREMONT — Haley Gandsey (Oakland) and Tori Larson (Denver) each had four goals and the Occidental College women's lacrosse team erased a 4-1 deficit to go up at halftime.
But Oxy (1-2, 1-2 SCIAC) faltered a bit in the second half of a 15-12 loss at Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday.
Larson scored two goals, and Gandsey, Isabel Osgood-Roach (Portland, Ore.) and Mary Richardson (Marblehead, Mass.) each had one during a 5-0 Oxy run to close the first half up 6-4.
With the Tigers still leading 8-6 early in the second, Pomona-Pitzer rattled off four unanswered goals and never relinquished the lead.
Gandsey brought the Tigers (1-2, 1-2 SCIAC) within one, 13-12, with 4:05 left, but Jana London answered with two goals to seal the victory for the Sagehens (1-2, 1-2 SCIAC)
The Tigers have one more SCIAC game before taking several weeks off to play their non-conference schedule. Oxy hosts Redlands on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Jack Kemp Stadium in a rematch of last year's SCIAC Championship game and NCAA Division III First Round playoff game.
