Tigers Streak Comes to End at Chapman

Box Score

CHAPMAN 1, OCCIDENTAL 0

ORANGE — The Occidental men's soccer team was finally quieted after an incredible run, losing for the first time since Oct. 1, at Chapman on Wednesday.

Daniel Malikya had the game's only goal in the 18th minute.

It was just the third time all season that Oxy was held scoreless.

The Tigers had gone 9-1-1 in their last 11 matches, clinching the program's first SCIAC Playoff berth while proving they could beat anyone in the conference.

The participants in the SCIAC four-team postseason tournament are set, with just seeding left to be determined. Redlands (11-5, 33 points) wins the regular season SCIAC Championship. Pomona-Pitzer (9-4-2, 29 points) and Chapman (9-4-2, 29 points) are tied for second and Oxy (9-5-1, 28 points) sits safely in fourth with a chance to jump up to as high as second with some good fortune.

If the Tigers finish second, they will host a SCIAC playoff game on Nov. 6 at Jack Kemp Stadium.

Oxy has beaten all three of the tournament participants already this season.

The Tigers finish the regular season on Saturday against La Verne on Oxy's grass field at 1 p.m.
