Box Score Redlands 3, Occidental 0
Player of the Game: Oxy forward Grayson Burdon attacked the Bulldogs' goal all night and had the best opportunity to score for the Tigers early in the second half, but the ball was stopped just short by a great effort from Redlands keeper John Melito
Redlands forward Charles Izydorek sealed the deal for the Bulldogs with his header to put his team ahead 3-0 following a corner kick from Matej Kustura.
Play of the Game: In the 87th minute, Oxy Goalkeeper Tristan Cooper made a spectacular diving save off an Izdorkek attempt in the box, but it was too little too late to help the Tigers.
Turning Point: In the 17th minute of regulation, Redlands foward Pat Roraff received a pass at the top of the box and sent a shot to the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. Roraff's go ahead score along with Tom Elsea's goal in the beginning of the second half proved to put the game out of reach for the Tigers.
Stat of the Game: The Bulldogs were more accurate shooting with 9 shots on goal compared to the Tigers' 3.
From the Coach: "We have some work to do," said Oxy head coach Rod Lafaurie. "Redlands is a good team. We'll learn what we can from this game and use it to improve moving forward."
Season Impact: With tonight's loss the Tigers drop to 1-3 in SCIAC play, but they have a chance to even their record when they face a struggling La Verne team next week.
Next Game: The Tigers travel to La Verne to face the Leopards Monday, September 22 at 7PM.
