Tigers Win at La Verne, One Point Back of First

LA VERNEZack Conrad scored in the second half and the Occidental men's soccer team had the good fortune of an own goal in the first half, winning a crucial SCIAC game at La Verne 2-0 on Saturday.

Season Impact: The Tigers, who came into the game in a tie for second place with the Leopards, take sole possession of second and now trail Redlands by one point in the standings with six regular season games to play. Oxy is now 9-1-3 overall and 6-1-3 in SCIAC play. La Verne falls to 10-4 and 6-4.

Conrad scored his fourth goal of the season in the 57th minute on an assist from Michael Tonetti, giving the Tigers some insurance.

Oxy goalkeeper Theo Atkinson finished with four saves. 

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action at Pomona-Pitzer on Monday at 7 p.m.
