Oxy Loses to Chapman in OT

Box Score

LOS ANGELES — Just moments after a scoreless regulation, Chapman's Marco Saglimbeni scored on a pass from Daniel Malikyar, giving the Panthers a 1-0 overtime win over the Occidental men's soccer team at Jack Kemp Stadium on Saturday.

Season Impact: Oxy falls to 11-3-2 overall and 8-3-3 in SCIAC. With two games to play, the Tigers sit in fourth with 27 points needing a tie or a win in one of their next two games to clinch a spot in the four-team SCIAC Postseason Tournament that determines the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Chapman jumps ahead of Oxy in the standings, moving to 28 points and into a tie with La Verne for second.

Redlands, currently in first with 34 points, can clinch the SCIAC regular season championship with a point in either of its remaining two games.

Oxy can still host a SCIAC playoff game on Nov. 4 if it finishes in second.

Next Match: Oxy has its senior night against Caltech on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. and then finishes the regular season at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Oct. 31.
