Box Score LOS ANGELES — Daniel Lawson, Morgan Bennett-Smith and Connor Freeman all scored as the Occidental men's soccer team earned a much-needed three points with a 3-0 victory over Cal Lutheran at Jack Kemp Stadium on Wednesday.
Oxy's defense was outstanding, keeping the Kingsmen from attempting a shot until the 77th minute.
The Tigers also had 61 percent of the possession.
Season Impact: Oxy improves to 8-1-3 overall and 5-1-3 in SCIAC play. After losing their first game of the season to Redlands on Saturday, the Tigers get back in the win column and jump back into second place, trailing the Bulldogs by one point.
Bennett-Smith upped his team-high goal total to five on the season with the Tigers' first score in the 12th minute and then assisted Lawson's goal in the 55th. Freeman added a third goal in the 61st.
Santiago Bedoya-Gallego assisted Bennett-Smith's goal.
Next Match: The Tigers play at second-place La Verne on Saturday at 7 p.m.
