Box Score ORANGE — Sierra Slack scored five goals and Beebe Finch Sanders added three goals, three assists and three draw controls as the Occidental women's lacrosse team won its first game of the season, crushing Chapman 15-4 at Wilson Field on Saturday.
The Tigers improve to 1-3 overall and 1-3 in SCIAC play with one more conference game remaining before they break from league competition for a five-game stretch.
Chapman falls to 1-2 and 1-2.
The result was never in doubt.
Slack had three of her scores as the Tigers jumped out to a 10-1 halftime lead and then she added two more during a 4-0 run to open the second half that put Oxy up 14-1 with 15:45 left in the game.
Mackenzie Wright and Rebecca Reese each added two goals and Alida Beck, Brita Loeb and Samantha Stewart each scored one.
Adrienne Ruth anchored an excellent Oxy defensive effort with 10 saves. Monica Rosenkranz had two caused turnovers.
From the Coach: "Tonight was a total team effort," Oxy head coach Stephanie Janice Mark said. "Our defense started our offense and Adrienne stepped up big with a great game. We found some rhythm on offense and were really unselfish with the ball."
