Box Score LOS ANGELES — Beebe Finch Sanders led four players with at least three goals — scoring a game-high five — and the Occidental women's lacrosse team won at Redlands for the first time in program history, 16-12 on Saturday.
Finch Sanders, a senior perennial All-SCIAC performer, also picked up four ground balls and led the Tigers to a 17-13 advantage on draws, controlling six.
Alida Beck, Sierra Slack and Rebecca Reese all recorded hat tricks with three goals. Mackenzie Wright and Alessandra Quaroni each had a goal and an assist.
Aside from a 2-1 Redlands lead early in the first half, the Tigers jumped in front and held off the Bulldogs' multi-goal rallies for what was almost a wire-to-wire win. The Bulldogs tied the game at 8-8 with 20 minutes left, but Beck ignited a 6-0 run with a free position score.
Oxy defenders Monica Rosenkranz and Kristin Feinberg sparked Oxy's offense by securing eight ground balls between them that led to successful clears and eventually scores. Rosenkranz grabbed a game-high five ground balls and Feinberg had three.
Oxy goalie Adrienne Ruth made five saves in the cage.
Redlands was led by three goals from Dulce Moll.
The Tigers improve to 8-5 overall, 4-4 in SCIAC play are are now in a three-way tie for third with the Bulldogs and Chapman with two regular season home games to play.
Oxy has won eight of its last 10 games.
