LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Occidental College (5-6, 1-5) fell to Pomona-Pitzer (10-1, 6-0) with a final score of 20-2 on Saturday at Patterson Field. Despite the loss, the Tigers managed to secure 10 ground balls and clear 11 of 20 attempts.

The game commenced with Pomona-Pitzer taking an early lead, as Madeleine Trapp scored the first goal at 11:59, assisted by Ella Bradley. The Sagehens maintained control with successive goals from Carly Katzman and M Miranda Wiltberger, expanding their advantage. Wiltberger scored again at 10:07, capitalizing on a free position shot. Nora Leblanc, Birdie Hawkins, and Maria Favret also found the net, solidifying a dominant 9-0 lead for Pomona-Pitzer by the end of the first quarter. Despite several saves by

Pomona-Pitzer extended its lead in the second quarter with a series of strategic plays, resulting in five unanswered goals. Katzman opened the scoring with a goal at 11:50, followed by Chloe Denhart's goal at 8:19, assisted by Leblanc. Grace Tighe capitalized on a free position shot at 5:50 to further widen the gap. Taylor Glanville netted another goal at 1:57 with help from Piper Higgins, and Higgins scored her own goal at 00:45, assisted by Wiltberger. Despite several attempts, Occidental struggled to clear the ball effectively, allowing Pomona-Pitzer to maintain control and end the quarter with a 14-0 lead.
Pomona-Pitzer extended its lead with a strong showing in the third quarter, opening the scoring at 11:11 with a goal by Caili Cross. Cross added another at 5:45, contributing to a three-goal performance for the visitors during the quarter.
Olivia Okamoto responded for the Tigers with a goal from a free position at 8:35, marking the home team's only score in the quarter. Despite a late shot by
Ellie Mahoney that hit the post, Occidental trailed 17-1 at the end of the quarter.
Occidental's
Tirzah Rivera scored early in the fourth quarter, narrowing the gap against Pomona-Pitzer. However, the Sagehens responded effectively with three goals in the quarter. Madelyn Katz netted two goals, assisted by Audrey Jacklyn and Zaina Sayeed at 5:10 and 1:45, respectively. Catherine Faucette added another goal with 27 seconds left, consolidating Pomona-Pitzer's lead. Despite several clear attempts, the Tigers struggled to capitalize, while
