REDLANDS, Calif. — Occidental College (5-7, 1-6 SCIAC) fell to the University of Redlands (8-4, 4-3 SCIAC) with a final score of 15–7 on Wednesday at Farquhar Field. The Tigers managed a player-up goal and a player-down goal but were outmatched by Redlands' offensive strength, which included three player-up goals.
The match commenced with
Charlotte Dreyfus and Courtney Myers in goal for Occidental and Redlands, respectively. Redlands gained early momentum, with Emily Webster scoring the first goal at 13:59, assisted by Sophia Rangel. Redlands extended their lead with Nicole Sanders converting a free position shot at 12:07. Gwenyth Guico, also assisted by Maya Weaver, continued Redlands' scoring run at 10:02. Webster and Mallory Morrissey added goals at 9:23 and 7:59, respectively, the latter prompting a timeout by Occidental. Sanders capped the quarter with her second goal at 3:16, leaving the Tigers trailing 6–0 at the end of the first quarter.
Redlands extended its lead early in the second quarter with Ruby Czajkowski scoring at 13:05 and Guico adding another from a free position at 12:01. Redlands capitalized on a player-up opportunity when Ella Batarse scored with 8:10 remaining, assisted by April Bryant. The Tigers responded with
Olivia Okamoto netting twice, including a player-down goal assisted by
Aubrey Chang at 7:14 and a free position goal at 5:17. Chang further reduced the deficit with a goal at 4:17. However, Webster secured another goal for Redlands with five seconds left, ending the quarter with Redlands leading 10–3.
Ava Whelan opened the scoring for Occidental in the third quarter with a free position goal at 13:46, marking her 15th of the season. Redlands responded swiftly, with Bryant netting a goal at 13:14 assisted by Webster, bringing her season total to 22. Both teams struggled to maintain possession, with multiple turnovers and failed clear attempts. Defensive efforts were highlighted by
Grace Morrow's save at 9:35, while
Evie Kim was instrumental for Occidental, securing several ground balls throughout the quarter. The quarter concluded with each team adding one goal, moving the score to 11–4 in favor of Redlands.
Redlands took control early in the fourth quarter with a player-up goal by Rangel at 14:31, assisted by Czajkowski. Rangel added another goal at 12:24, extending Redlands' lead. Occidental responded with Okamoto scoring a player-up goal at 11:49, assisted by
Ellie Mahoney. Despite a goal from Chang, assisted by Okamoto at 4:08, Redlands maintained its advantage. Okamoto added another score, reaching her 40th goal of the season at 2:25, but Guico sealed Redlands' win with a goal at 0:35, assisted by Czajkowski.
