Box Score LOS ANGELES — There were plenty of goals to go around, as long as you had Occidental on your jersey.
The Tigers erupted for seven goals, scored by seven different players, on their way to a 7-0 win over Bristol University in the program's season and home opener.
Connor Freeman, Morgan Bennett-Smith and Santiago Bedoya-Gallego, all returning starters, led the way with one goal and one assist each.
Gabriel Barrett-Jackson, Benjamin "Ed" Sartor, Grayson Burdon and Ethan Glass rounded out Oxy's scorers. Valdair Martins-Lopes finished with a pair of assists.
The Tigers scored their first goal in the 8th minute, again in the 13th and quickly had a 5-0 lead by halftime.
The one scare at the defensive end was foiled when Oxy goalkeeper Tristan Cooper stopped a penalty kick late in the first half.
Oxy plays a pair of home matches this weekend. The Tigers host Oberlin on Friday at 7 p.m. and then UC Santa Cruz on Sunday at 7 p.m.
"It's a nice start to the season, but we still have many levels to improve our game," Oxy head coach Rod Lafaurie said. "It's not where you start the season, it's where you finish. We're a hungry and humble group so we're focusing on Friday night."
