Box Score LOS ANGELES — Alana Hillman scored a beautiful goal in the top right corner from 30 yards out in the 72nd minute and Megan Maher scored on a pass from Julie Khil in the 35th minute.
But the Occidental women's soccer team conceded an early goal in each half and could not overcome the deficit twice, falling to Cal Lutheran 4-2 at Jack Kemp Stadium on Wednesday.
The speedy Raquel Weckhurst outran Oxy's defense and scored three goals for Cal Lutheran. Her first score put the Regals up 1-0 in the 4th minute, she gave them a 3-1 lead in the 61st and then after Hillman's goal cut the lead to one, she all but sealed the game with her third of the night in the 79th minute.
Season Impact: The Tigers fall to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in SCIAC play. Cal Lutheran improves to 3-4 and 2-1.
Bianca Deardorff weaved through a pair of defenders and scored a shot to the bottom right of Oxy goalkeeper Dallas Gunny, giving Cal Lutheran a 2-1 lead in the 48th minute.
Gunny made an excellent leg save to keep Deardorff from scoring her second goal of the game on a breakaway in the 58th minute.
Play of the Game: Hillman's goal was an incredible crack from deep that was perfectly placed in the upper-v, giving Cal Lutheran goalkeeper Coral Hasley no chance of saving it.
First Half: After Weckhurst's early goal, The Tigers evened the score in the 35th minute. Anissa Raja played an over-the-top ball from around midfield to Khil on the left side of the box and then Khil found Maher right in front of the net for the score.
Next Match: The Tigers play at Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday at 11 a.m.
