Cal Lutheran Edges Oxy

Box Score

LOS ANGELES — The Occidental women's soccer team had opportunities to knock off Cal Lutheran, but came up empty handed in a 1-0 loss to the Regals at Jack Kemp Stadium on Saturday.

The Tigers fall to 5-3-1 overall and 2-3-1 in SCIAC play.

Cal Lutheran improves to 9-1-1 and 4-1-1.

Riley Settles scored the game's only goal in the 47th minute, blasting a shot over the head of Oxy goalkeeper Sydney Tomlinson.

The Tigers had 10 shots, led by Alanna Hillman with three, and Erin Iacullo and Megan Maher with two.

Oxy just couldn't quite get the connection it needed to find the net on many of its scoring opportunities.

Oxy center back Grace Sponaugle was impressive defensively for the Tigers, winning challenges and shutting down potential Cal Lutheran scoring opportunities.

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action against Redlands on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Jack Kemp Stadium.
