Box Score LOS ANGELES — The Occidental women's soccer team dominated the first 40 minutes of play, with opportunity after opportunity to put first-place Pomona-Pitzer in a hole.
But Nadia Alalyan headed in a corner kick from Katie Tao in the 41st minute and the Sagehens hung on for a 1-0 win over the Tigers at Jack Kemp Stadium on Wednesday.
Season Impact: The Tigers fall to 7-4-1 and 4-4-1 in SCIAC play. Oxy remains in fourth place in the standings.

Oxy's best chance of the game came when Erin Iacullo intercepted a pass just outside Pomona-Pitzer's box and played a nice through ball to Paige Wolny, whose rolling shot missed off the right post in the 31st minute.
Kylie Takafuji looked like she might even the game in the 65th minute, with the ball at her feet in the Pomona-Pitzer box, but she couldn't get a clean look with Pomona-Pitzer's defense swarming her.
Oxy also gave the Sagehens a scare on a pair of back-to-back corner kicks and a series of shots that were blocked by Robin Waymouth, Karla Alas-Lopez and Nicole Castro around the 70th minute.
Next Game: Oxy is back in action on Saturday at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 11 a.m.
