Box Score LOS ANGELES — First year Shai Goodman recorded a hat-trick in her first career game, but the Occidental women's lacrosse team dropped its season and home opener to the Bulldogs, 13-7 at Jack Kemp Stadium on Wednesday.
Season Impact: The Tigers are 0-1 overall and 0-1 in SCIAC.
Redlands improves to 1-1 overall and in conference.
Rebecca Reese, who was the Tigers' third leading scorer last year, scored two goals and Brita Loeb added one. Sierra Slack chipped in a goal and an assist.
The Tigers looked in control of the game midway through the first half when Slack found Loeb for a score to put Oxy up 4-2. But Redlands called a timeout and countered with 6-0 run to close the half, taking an 8-4 lead into the break.
Oxy cut the lead to 9-7 five minutes into the second half before going scoreless for the rest of the game.
Redlands' Dulce Moll had a big night with four goals and three assists. Her teammate Stephanie Garret also stood out with four goals and one assist. Hanna Morford and Hayley Donnelly each had two goals.
Next Game: Oxy is back in action Saturday, hosting Pomona-Pitzer at 1 p.m. The Tigers and the Sagehens squared off in the SCIAC Championship and in the NCAA playoffs last season.
