LOS ANGELES — Coming off two wins against BYU-Hawaii and Hawaii Pacific to open the season, the Tigers continued their success against Soka at home with a 3-1 win Saturday.

Occidental had 17 shots on the frame, including two goals from senior forward Julie Khil and one from junior midfielder Alana Hillman. Despite the Tigers' offensive edge, head coach Colm McFeely explained that there's still much room for improvement.

"I'm happy with the win, but disappointed with the performance," he said after the game. "[Soka] is another team we have to respect. We played well in Hawaii and have to come and do it again here." Occidental earned two shutout wins over NCAA Division II teams in Hawaii last week. "We have to take those same mentalities and go in and win the game instead of having someone else give it to you."

The Tigers are still looking to cement their identity early in the season.

"We're still looking to formulate it. One of the things we've talked about in our core values is that we're relentless in our approach and truthful in how we go about things." McFeely said. "Today, I hope we'll look back and say, 'we could have made this easier for ourselves.' We've had a good start, but the realization is that we've still got a lot of work to do."

Occidental plays at La Verne (1-2) Wednesday at 7 p.m.
